I've found three versions of the text so far (apparently there are lots
more, but mostly late -- post 1930?) Interestingly, the relevant lines in
all three versions differ:
So they sent a bellman to the market square
To see if he could find a skivvy there
But the only one that they could find
... or:
Well they sent a bellman to the market square
To see if he could find a slavey there
But the only one now that he could find
... or:
When she got to the market, no skivvy couild she find
Only the little young one that left the child behind
