I'm not making any claims for the poem. The attempt was to make disjunct
metaphors, implicit is the idea that our civilization is giving birth to
shit, in the fact of war. It's a very rough draft and I suspect the piece I
wrote today is aesthetically more successful, it's odd the amount of comment
something I don't think works too well has attracted.

I agree that war is shit. My objection was to your equation of
childbirth and shitting, which I pointed out were anatomically very
different processes. As a woman, which last time I looked I am, I
found it an irritating metaphor; and I said that the irony needed
more work, if the poem was going to work for me. I don't recall
saying the poem was sexist.
