in Prof. C. Bradley Moore's Molecular Dynamics and Spectroscopy Laboratory
Chemistry Department
Basic requirements: doctoral degree in chemistry, or chemical physics,
or physics or physical
chemistry.
Skillfulness in use and application of lasers: Nd:YAG, excimer, and
dye and related optical
equipment. Experience in detection of fast phenomena in physics or in
chemistry; experience in
application of lasers and related techniques to areas of molecular
spectroscopy ; experience in use
of high vacuum is desired; practice in programming or in lab
automation (Lab View) is desired;
prior experience in gas phase spectroscopy is desired.
Goal: To characterize the unimolecular reaction dynamics and
spectroscopy of fr ee radicals and
molecules that exhibit non-statistical behavior with respect to
reaction rates or properties of the
reaction products.
Summary of duties: Conducts research in molecular reaction dynamics
and spectro scopy.
Designs, builds, modifies and repairs experimental apparatus as
needed. Designs and executes
spectroscopic and dynamical measurements on reactive molecules and
their products using a
variety of laser and molecular beams techniques. Collaborates well
with others in carrying out
complex experiments.
