Robin's (inclined) Shaft apparently hades down the face of a joint. The
adjacent shaft (Brown's) is vertical to and probably sunk to intersect
Robin's, but it was abandoned because of water problems (? c.1850). I was
told a few days ago that it is not a true incline, and is nearly vertical in
places. It was clearly intended that it would not be used for drawing,
although this must have been forced upon the miners.
The mine is South West of Ecton Copper Mine, near Ilam village in N. Staffs.
