Dear Joan
I wonder if you've seen the following:
Shakespeare J, Blake F, Garcia J 2003 A qualitative study of the
acceptability of routine screening of postnatal women using the Edinburgh
Postnatal Depression Scale. British Journal of General Practice. 53: 614-9
The conclusion reads "For this sample, routine screening with EPDS was less
than acceptable for the majority of women. This is of concern, as universal
screening with EPDS for the detection of postnatal depression is already
recommended and widespread in primary care."
I think it's an excellent study and should cause us serious pause for thought.
Apologies- I know that is not what you asked.
Seasons greetings to all
Jo
