Hello
As well as working as a subject librarian at the University of Plymouth I am also a guide (part-time) at the Eden Project, Cornwall. Because of my professional background I have joined a team of people looking at creating a library here at Eden which will be accessible to the public.
I have been given the task of deciding on a system for managing the stock but have limited knowledge of small library management systems and am therefore seeking advice from all of you in small specialist libraries.
We envisage the library being reference only for the time being but with the option in the future for borrowing rights. Material at the moment consists of a relatively small collection of books and journals, slides and digital images. At present the books are entered on to the plant database but we would prefer to have a separate library system. Can anyone recommend a versatile, flexible, cheapish system. Ideally we would like something that allows us to catalogue the material using MARC, would allow circulation of material and would eventually link with other knowledge databases we set up.
