Performance Measurement in Libraries
Library Measures to fill the void: assessing outcomes
Collingwood College, Durham, Monday 28 July - Thursday 31 July 2003.
Following four highly successful conferences the Information Management
Research Institute, School of Informatics, Northumbria University, UK, is
pleased to announce its fifth conference in 2003. The electronic world of
information provides challenges for librarians and information workers
everywhere. The conference will address these issues in addition to the
value and impact of our traditional services and evaluating them
effectively.
It is intended for library and information managers in ALL sectors of
library and information services, as well as research and teaching staff.
Durham City is a World Heritage Site, easily accessible from Durham
mainline railway station and Newcastle and Teesside airports.
Keynote Speakers will be:

* Roswitha Poll, University of Muenster, Germany: Assessing the
library's role in information seeking
* John Bertot, School of Information Studies, Florida State
University, Tallahassee , USA, Public Library Electronic Measures:
Status and Issues
There will also be a great debate which will take place on Thursday :
John Bertot, Peter Hernon and Roswitha Poll will debate: Is customer
satisfaction an output or outcome ?
SOCIAL PROGRAMME
Monday 28 July After dinner, delegates will be free to explore Durham
City perhaps visiting Durham Cathedral or enjoying a river trip.
Tuesday 29 July The Conference Dinner will be held at Lumley Castle, a
14th Century castle situated at Chester-le-Street near Durham City.
Wednesday 30 July After dinner, there will be music in the bar provided
by a traditional Northumbrian piper
