Hi Santanu.
Before using the cvs commands you should log on the cvs server with the
procedure described in
http://grid-deployment.web.cern.ch/grid-deployment/documentation/cvs-guide/
under the "Public access" heading.
In any case, I would recommend to use a checkout command like:
# cvs checkout -r LCG1-1_1_0 -d /tmp/LCG1-1_1_0 lcg1
so that the checked out files do not mix with whatever you already may
have in /tmp.
Also, as long as you just doing some tests, using a dir under /tmp is
fine, but once you start installing real nodes you definitely want to
store the configuration files in some place which guarantees a bit more
stability than /tmp :-)
In any case, in order to optimize the support structure for new sites
during the first installation phase, RAL has agreed to act as a first
level support for new Tier2 sites in UK: please refer to the RAL site
contact address, [log in to unmask], for future questions and
problem reports. They will then escalate the problem to the deployment
team if needed.
Cheers
Emanuele
