1. FMO Tips: Using the FMO Web Catalogue (http://www.forcedmigration.org)
The Web Catalogue can help you locate relevant web-based information
resources on a variety of forced migration topics. It currently houses over
800 records with descriptions and links to 36 different types of resources,
such as publication sets, legal information, bibliographies, map
collections, statistical sets, FAQs, education programmes, journals, etc.
Use the simple search box for a quick search on your area of interest
Examples:
"women refugees"
development displacement
Colombia
Use the advanced search screen to search by language, geographic terms, or
resource type.
Examples:
- To locate publications in Czech on the Roma, select "Czech" from the
Language drop-down list, select "Articles/Papers/Reports (coll.)" from the
Resource Type drop-down list, and type in "Roma" in the search box. Click
on "Search now."
- To locate full-text journals relating to human rights, select
"Journals/Newsletters (full-text)" from the Resource Type drop-down list,
and type in "human rights" in the search box. Click on "Search now."
- To locate news services with an Africa focus, select "Africa" from the
Geographical Terms drop-down list, and "News" from the Resource Type
drop-down list. Click on "Search now."
- To locate all resources available in French, simply select "French" from
the Language drop-down list and click on "Search now." This same strategy
can be applied to the other search fields as well.
Search results:
- To view the complete record describing a resource, click on the blue title
link in the search results list. To go directly to the resource, click on
the red URL link in the search results list.
- The number of hits displayed in the summary results list is set to a
default of four per page, in order to accommodate different monitor sizes.
