Hello
As most of you know, the first annual lecture of the Health Equity Network, which I'll advertise from time to time, will take place on March 3rd at the LSE and will be given by Peter Bourne (the flyer is pasted below).
I can't do Peter's CV justice here, but very briefly, he is a graduate of Emory University Medical School and of Stanford University, and is currently Visiting Scholar at Green College, Oxford, and Vice Chancellor Emeritus of St. George's University, Grenada. Among his many appointments, Peter has been an Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations: Special Assistant to US President Jimmy Carter for Health Issues; Deputy Campaign Director of Jimmy Carter's Presidential Campaign (and Special Advisor to Jimmy Carter when he was State Governor of Georgia); Assistant Director at the White House Special Action Office for Drug Abuse Prevention; Chief of the Psychiatric Section of the US Army Medical Research Team in Vietnam; (among many, many other appointments). He is on the Editorial or Advisory Boards of several journals, has won numerous awards, and has published extensively and widely in books and journals.
Peter will be talking on the "the Cuban health system: its global impact and the lessons to be learned".
Attendance is free, but RSVP (to [log in to unmask] with both your name and affiliation) is required (but please don't respond if you have already informed me that you will be attending).
Please feel free to forward this message to anyone who you think might be interested in attending.
Kind regards and happy new year
