Betty Edward's exercises are very good.
Small children like the 'framing' process, through viewfinders or lenses.
They like to handle and examine
real objects which relate to other subjects. They like to use a
magnifying glass while drawing. What they produce will be a combination of
their 'mind's eye' idea of what they see and the images/objects you offer
them as stimulation.

Subject: Integrating drawing across the curriculum in elementary schools.
In the U.S., art education is most often ghettoized in art classes, with a
strong emphasis on crafts and manipulation of materials rather than drawing.
I have been very impressed with the resources on drawing I have found on the
internet emanating from the U.K.
I am in the process of writing a proposal for a an integrated drawing
program, which would assist elementary classroom teachers in developing
their studentsą drawing skills in relationship to existing curriculum. Iąd
appreciate any further advice or resources you might have that could help me
in this project.
Thanks very much,
Andrea Kantrowitz
