(Ref: 03/330) Lecturer in Research Methods and Social Policy (18
month appt)
(Ref: 03/331) Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology (2 year appt)
The Department includes the disciplines of social policy, sociology
and social work and has a strong teaching and research record
achieving a 5 in the 2001 RAE. Further information is available at

Two temporary lecturers are required from 1st February 2004 to
replace staff on externally funded projects.
The Lecturer in Research Methods and Social Policy will primarily
teach on core undergraduate courses in qualitative research methods
and learning skills, a postgraduate unit in quantitative research
methods, and an introductory undergraduate social policy unit.
The Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology will contribute to two
popular undergraduate courses on crime and deviance and
punishment, and will be responsible for a core 1st year
undergraduate course on the sociology of inequalities.
Candidates for both posts should have a strong teaching and
research record and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate
and postgraduate teaching, to supervise undergraduate and
postgraduate dissertations, supervise placement students and act as
personal tutors.
