Virginia State University seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in History, rank open, contingent upon administrative approval, starting August 15, 2004. Application deadline: January 30, 2004
Position (FO xxx): History of the Atlantic World and/or the African Diaspora¯preference given to a candidate with scholarly background in comparative slavery, and/or history of Brazil, and/or Latin American history. The applicant has to be able to teach either World History or American History general education survey courses, and is expected to make significant contributions (teaching, advising) to the History Graduate Program. Experiences in writing and securing grants will be seen as a plus. Ph.D. in hand by no later than May 2004, teaching experience, and record of research and scholarly publications are required. Send letter of application, c.v., writing sample, evidence of teaching ability (i.e. sample syllabi, student evaluations, etc.), and three recent letters of recommendation.
