We are pleased to invite you to register now for CADE 2003. The fifth
Computers in Art and Design Education conference will be a forum for
sharing ideas, good practice, creative solutions. We will debate the
impact that new cutting edge technologies have on our working practices
and the changing role within our institutions. We hope you will enjoy the
unusual mix of panel discussions, papers, presentations, demonstrations,
tutorials, exhibitions/performances and workshops. Keynote Speakers
include Gerhard Blechinger (Vice Dean R&D, University for Design and Art,
Zurich) and Brian Minards (Director of Learning & Teaching, School of
Design, University of Leeds).
Outline programme as follows:
Tuesday 22 April
Day one of the conference commences with a free Postgraduate Forum hosted
at Hull Time Based Arts, which will focus on ongoing or recently completed
research for PhD and MA students doing relevant research in art, design,
media practice and computer science.
Registration for the main conference will take place during the afternoon.
ArCade IV, - opening and evening reception at the UniversityUs EICH
gallery
ArCade iV is the Fourth Open International Exhibition of Electronic Fine
Art Prints, an exhibition of international digital prints sponsored by
Apple, which has attracted artists from across the globe
Wednesday 23 April
Keynote:
Professor Gerhardt Blechinger, Vice Dean of Research and Development at
the University of Design and Art in Zurich
Delegates discuss current media practice and how it relates to new
technologies. There will be iTV presentations by Kingston Interactive
Television and the BBC, panel discussion chaired by Tom Holley (Creative
Director of the Media Centre in Huddersfield), and a range of interesting
papers and demonstrations
Private View:
Alt Zero, an experimental new media installation, at the live art space in
the Ferens Art Gallery.
The evening is being sponsored by the Visual Arts Data Service, who will
be launching their new website at the event.
Thursday 24 April
Keynote:
Anthony Rowe, Squidsoup
Current art and design practice and new technologies will be the specific
theme for day three, considering a range of papers from academics and
practitioners throughout the art and design industry.
In conjunction with Hull Film, delegates will be invited to an evening
reception at Hull Screen for the showing of experimental digital short
films.
Friday 25 April
Keynote:
Brian Minards, Director of Learning and Technology, School of Design,
University of Leeds
He will join delegates in discussion as to the future of art and design
education and how it relates to the new technologies.
