I think it would be apt to suggest calm-down pills, placidummies, boxes of
chocs, hello-how-are-you's wrapped in smiles and general outbreaks of
mutuality at this point.
I certainly haven't been in this debate in a spirit of personal hostility,
I've enjoyed the many viewpoints that have emerged.

Subject: Re: Class
Having read the latest bulletin from Planet Allen about Eliot and the
Movement, it would appear to be a safe bet that Tim Allen is a poltergeist
just here in this space to be a nuisance. There is no coherence to be found
in his various pronouncements about class. Apparently class is visible in
poetry but despite being asked to be specific he still hasn't given us
examples. But then, hang on a minute, he doesn't read poetry for the
ideology because he believes in pure poetry even though poetry is
ideologically determined.
This thread started with a nasty personalised attack on Ruth Padel dressed
up as an envy-driven argument about power and money which was supposed to be
a review but was actually an op ed piece and then apparantly a meeting of
the Andrew Jordan fan club. Unsurprisingly, it's recently included an
unjustified attack on Martin Stannard. I don't often agree with what Martin
writes - I think he's a bit of a poltegeist a lot of the time too - but it
seems to me that he does try to give an honest response to the poetry in
front of him without worrying about what he's supposed to think.
