Kate,
We've set quota, mainly to make instructors aware that students may have
to pull all those bits through a 28K modem, and to prevent students from
using the drop box as a personal data store for large files.
We still have a default upload quota of 51200K to prevent the latter,
but we removed the quota on the course disk space. We needed too many
exceptions, and don't have the manpower to deal with them quickly enough.
In addition, there's an annoying bug in Blackboard. I believe we set
our systemwide course quota to 100 MB. Some courses needed higher quota.
When we subsequently copied these courses (we copied all used courses
at the beginning of the new academic year), the quota for these courses
all reverted to 0 MB. 0 as in "no space allowed", not as in
"unlimited". Blackboard made a mess of that support call, but I got the
confirmation that the issue would not be solved in bb 6. I didn't press
the issue because I had meanwhile decided that it was more trouble than
it was worth.
