I have found little on the list in the last couple of years re this vexed
subject and would welcome some current facts and figures from other
repositories, particularly those in the private sector.
I am interested in receiving information concerning any policy decisions
made (whether to charge or not); how and on what basis these decisions were
made (and who made them); whether any archives have implemented a fixed fee
or a sliding scale; how the charges were computed and implemented, and any
difficulties experienced as a result of introducing them.
If a fee has been introduced, was/is it dependent on any of the following
factors: time spent researching it; nature or complexity of request;
whether received by email, letter or telephone; the type of enquirer, and
the purpose to which any information provided will be put?
All comments/advice off-list please.
