CALL FOR PAPERs
THEME
Women make the world different through science, technology and environment
in practice.
BACKGROUND
ß In the framework of realizing gender equity and equality in all aspects
of development, i.e.: Science and Technology, Environment, Human Rights,
Community Development, Health, and Politics, harmony vision and missions
are desirable within all stake holders.
ß There is a paradigm transformation from “women in development” into
“gender and development” which is pointed on how women could be better
integrated into the existing “men/male made world”.
ß The need of a forum for communication and information exchange on gender
and development in regional and international scope.
SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES
The symposium is aimed:
? To gather a worldwide gender activists, scientists, decision makers,
executives, industries, and whoever concern with gender from a range of
background to experience exchange, in an international forum of
discussion.
? To study, discuss and evaluate various programs, activities, researches,
and public services with gender perspective in the past, present, and the
future in order to reach sustainable development from a wide scope point
of view.
? To formulate a recommendation for the government and all the
stakeholders on policies in the frame of accomplishing gender equity and
equality in sustainable development.
DATE & VENUE
Date : 22nd to 25th September 2004
Venue : Sheraton Mustika Ratu Hotel, Jalan Laksda Adisucipto, Yogyakarta
22nd September is for early registration and Welcome Party.
The Symposium will be held in 3 (three) days, 2 (two) days for opening
ceremony and technical presentations, and 1 (one) day for field trip
CALL FOR PAPER
The topics for the paper that will be discussed are as follows:
ß Science and Technology in Practice
ß Environmental Problems and Disaster
ß Natural Resources, Water and Energy Management
ß Community Development
ß Health and Human Prosperity
Notes : The paper that will be submitted has to be related with Gender in
Sustainable Development.
IMPORTANT DEAD LINES
Abstract submission : 31st March 2004
Notification of accepted paper : 30th April 2004
Full paper submission : 31st July 2004
