Hi David,
"1-Dimensional data handling such as spectra, with line measurements,
extraction, or time varying and periodic data"
Shouldn't the "extraction" part of this be in the GAIA-like section (I
assume you mean extracting a spectrum from either a data cube, or an
image).
Re: "line measurements", are these provided by the VO from fixed tables,
or measured locally or by the data provider on request? If the former then
perhaps something like "line identifications and strengths" might be
better.
"World Coordinate transformations for automatic data registration foir
inclusion in drag-and-drop applications e.g. drop a group of spectra on
an image to create a consistent data cube, or drop an X-ray spectrum onto a
visible spectrum to compare data in relative velocity space"
I struggled to understand this. Perhaps you mean something like?:
"Automated World Coordinate conversions for registering data in
differing coordinate systems. Such facilities may be used in
applications that need to compare data from differing instruments and
energy regimes, e.g. drop a group of spectra on an image to create a
consistent data cube (with the spectra aligned to the spatial region
they relate to), or drop an X-ray spectrum onto a visible spectrum to
compare data in relative velocity space.
Although I'm not sure about the spectral cube bit. The more obvious,
pedestrian, examples are probably the alignment of images or cubes from
differing instruments or energy regimes.
"Metadata tools for manipulating, for example, information in FITS
headers for large numbers of data file, managing and organising these,
inter-relating them with other groupings of data, documents and ideas"
I'd say this part has reversed emphasis from our (HDX) perspective:
"Metadata tools for manipulating, managing, organising and
inter-relating groups of data, documents and ideas. As well
as handling more traditional metadata such as FITS headers
for large numbers of files."
Not sure I understand the purpose of:
"Tools for creating new types of data objects, for example
spreadsheets-like objects of models, images, spectra and tables to
investigate the impact of changes in one component on others"
Care to elaborate?
Cheers,
Peter.
