Due to the continued growth and success of the Café Scientifique network
(www.cafescientifique.org), there is now an opportunity for a free-lance
science engagement worker to work two or three days a week on starting up
and supporting new Café Scientifiques. The initial contract would start in
April 2003, and run for three months, with an option for renewal. #100 per
day fee plus expenses.
The role includes identifying venues, recruiting local teams of volunteer
hosts/organisers, liaising with speakers and helping with publicity. You
would be joining a small but strong team and enthusiastic national Café
Scientific development worker.
Criteria for the person we are looking for are:
dynamic and self-directed
good communication and administrative skills
scientific literacy
experience in science communication or relevent area
located in the South of England
own transport and willingness to travel
