Dave,
No ill feeling here either.
Though, with all respect, the tangled logic is in your original post which conflates the preceding discussion on the quality of mercy in four particular lines of Prospero's speech with the issues of list management and your review and the expectation of forgiveness as "an invocation of respect" and "giving care to another."
My regrets if my attempts to untangle those threads you've so knotted together added merely another knot or two.
As for the review, I have the feeling that more has occurred behind these particular scenes than I am aware of, but as I understand
it your review occurred because of the risk of libel and slander, which is a very different legal issue in the "commonwealth" than it is here. I thought you were basically gossipping about other writers in a way that had nothing to do with being critical of their work. At least that's my understanding as I read the posts as they occurred. I don't think it's unfair for you to be under review for that, and if I told similar stories, how so-and-so really got his book published because he was "in bed" (in whatever sense) with so-and-so, I would expect to be put under review too.
Best,
Rebecca
