Vivienne,
You may be interested in how we provide e-books, since we do it rather
differently to most publishers. We bundle our e-books into subject areas,
and then offer each subject area on annual subscription. The subscription
price includes access to all new books released during the subscription
period, plus access to the backlist from 1998 onwards. Print supply is
optional. By subscribing, institutions gain the following benefits:
- unlimited access across the institution's network by IP address (and
Athens).
- remote access by username and password (or Athens)
- multiple-simulaneous use, unlimited downloads, unlimited printing
- librarians can use the service for electronic ILL
- educators can include our e-books (or selected elements) in course packs
- librarians can download e-books and store locally if they want,
alternatively we will provide ex-subscribers with continuing online access
to the e-books they subscribed to.
- end-users can purchase desk copies of the print editions at discounted
rates via our online bookshop.
If you'd like to try our service, called SourceOECD, we offer three-month
free trials. SourceOECD includes books in twenty different subject areas
based around the work of the OECD. It also includes our online periodicals
and our online statistical databases. You can visit SourceOECD at
www.SourceOECD.org without a password, access to each of the services is
free of charge down to the level of the abstracts/blurbs. You can find a
price list in the special Librarians area (top navigation bar).

Subject: Ebooks
Hello (again)
Does anyone use ebooks in their colleges, if so what titles do you take and
how do the prices compare. Am I right in thinking that ebooks can be
networked and accessed accross all computers? or does the licence limit
numbers of users at any one time?
Thanks,
Vivienne Towler
