I would like to express my agreement with Tracey's views.
So much seems to depend on the individual courier and Hays cannot expect to
improve their service if they don't know what problems libraries are
experiencing. Its the old story of 'if you like our service tell others,
if not, then tell us' and I think that libraries should share some
responsibility for letting Hays know when things go wrong.
Our courier has given us a great service since May 2002. We have had
hiccups with holiday relief which has always been sorted out as soon as they
are aware of problems; their speed of delivery is far better than Royal Mail
and as for the price... well, there is no contest.
We will continue to use them except for items to libraries which specify non
Hays service, though the contract is always under review.
