Dear Colleagues,
I know that it is Friday afternoon but do, please, read on.................
I sympathise with Sarah's recent comments about the Hays DX Service. From our point of view we are currently monitoring the service provided and reporting errors and inconsistencies to Sarah-Jayne Hyland at Hays.
In particular our concerns stem from one incident earlier this year, when a correctly labelled parcel, containing seven BL books was dispatched with Hays to Boston Spa
A week later I received a 'phone call from the local Adult Education Centre that the parcel had been handed in to them, having been found by a considerate driver AT THE SIDE OF THE DERBY RING ROAD! We were able to retrieve all the items, in good condition by virtue of a dry summer and were able to return them, with Hays, successfully. Hays was good enough to credit the £1.30.............!!??!!.......although have not provided any explanation why this incident occurred. This type of event gives good meaning to phrase, 'off the back of a lorry'!
I would like to know if any of you have other entertaining 'stories' about Hays and a normal day at the ILL office......
Sincerely
Tim

Dear Colleagues,
I was speaking to Sarah Hyland, the libraries service
co-ordinator at Hays, who has sincerely apologised for the
incorrect delivery of the book which I have written about
recently, and she assures me such a thing will not happen
again. It does seem, however, that she has not been made
aware of those other incidents about which we have spoken
among ourselves. She has asked me, and other libraries, to
report any problems that may occur in future to her, either
by email ... [log in to unmask] or by phone:
01753-631-669, to enable her to deal with the courier
involved.
I have thanked her for her efforts on my behalf.
However, I do not know whether the Hays problem can be
solved with one reprimand. I think we still need to be
vigilant for a little while after this, so that there will
be some books I shall send out, where I would rather Hsys
were not used. I hope their service will improve after
this, and there will not be any more problems. We shall
have to wait and see.
With thanks
Sandra
