Dear all,
Please read the following email regarding BioMed Central as it explains exactly what we are entitled to through national core content.

Emma
The BioMed Central service is not one that NHS users have access to via
Athens. Here is some text from an e-mail we received from BioMed Central
shortly before it was released:
"The NHS as a whole does not currently subscribe to any of these
subscription-access journals, but now that we support Athens, I believe that
several individual NHS trusts have indicated that they will subscribe, as
have several other Athens using institutions.
For NHS England, Athens authentication has been implemented primarily so
that NHS users can take advantage of NHS's institutional membership. This is
effectively an institutional subscription, which 'gives access' to the
ability to submit a manuscript without incurring a processing charge. At the
appropriate point in manuscript submission, users are given the option to
Athens authenticate in order to claim their automatic institutional waiver."
I think this service needs to be explained more clearly to your users; can I
suggest you contact Scott Gibbens?
Regards
Phil

Please can someone clarify the situation with this site (BioMed Central) as
it is asking users in the north west to log on with their BioMed Central
password and email address when they try to do a search, even though it
recognises the trust you are from and your athens account.
