eChallenges is an event organised by a European consortium, and sponsored by
the European Commission, which aims to create a European networking platform
for research, industry and policy makers with a perspective of shaping
European research and technological development chiefly in the areas of
eBusiness, eWork and eGovernment but cutting across many others. It provides
a forum for dissemination and exploitation opportunities for projects funded
by the EC, and projects and research supported on a national and regional
level as well.

ICT and e-Business Strategies for Development (20/10/03)
On Monday 20 october Mr Liikanen, European Commissioner for Enterprise and
Information Society, will participate to the UNCTAD-UNECE High-Level
Regional Conference for Transition Economies by video conference from
Brussels. The Conference sessions will include discussions of national ICT
and e-commerce strategies and practices, regional cooperation in that
domain, and the state of e-business and e-finance. Mr. Liikanen will share
his views about the importance of setting an efficient legal and regulatory
framework for both accession countries and economies in transition aspiring
closer relations with the EU.
