A quick plea for guidance.
I have been approached by a colleague working on a digitisation project for a small organisation who has run into a query over copyright. The problem is as follows.
A letter is sent to an organisation A from another organisation B about the work of organisation A. Some years later (30-80 years) organisation A is undertaking a digitisation project and wishes to include the letter from organisation B. Does organisation A need to contact organisation B to get permission to digitise the letter to put on their web site?
There are, of course lots of letters from lots of different organisations, which multiplies the problem.
All advice gratefully received.
Gillian
