Yes
Bell & Howell/ProQuest have a long record of charging what they think they
can get.
What happened to the "People's Network" electronic purchasing agency that
was supposed to negotiate sensible prices for Public Sector providers of
information to the general and student public?
Don't think KnowUK is value for money, either.
The destruction of _European Access_ leaves the marketplace open for other
excellent journals, such as _European Information_.

To add my pennyworth,
We too have had this letter. As an EPIC we can only justify subscribing to
the paper version of European Access, which is excellent value for the
information it contains. The move to KnowEurope would mean us having to
pay
a huge increase, which I find outrageous. We will not be taking up
ProQuest's special offer, as there is no way we can justify this
expenditure.
Do other EPICs agree?

Hi everyone,
I've just had a letter from ProQuest announcing that European Access will
cease in December 2003. It will only be available online as part of
KnowEurope. This will be an enormous loss to us as the subscription costs
to Know Europe will be a big barrier. I wondered if colleagues felt
similarly or has everyone else already subscribed to KnowEurope.
Apologies for duplicate postings
