The Universities Assication of Continuing Education RURAL CE Network is
organising an ESRC funded research seminar series on Rurality, Regeneration
and Lifelong Learning throughout 2003.
The seminar aims to bring together academics working on rural issues in a
range of disciplines whose insights, knowledge and experience will be
useful to continuing education researchers and practitioners. There are
still some opportunities to contribute papers to the series, especially

The first seminar will take place on Wednesday January 22, 11 - 4 at the
University of Newcastle. Its theme is capacity building and regeneration.
Speakers include: Professor Fred Gray (Sussex), Dr Rebecca O'Rourke
(Leeds), Dr Christopher Wray, Dr Katy Bennett and Dr Jeremy Phillipson
(Centre for Rural Economy, Newcastle). The fee for attendance is £10, to
cover the cost of lunch and refreshments. Future seminars are scheduled for
Aberystwyth, Brighton, Leeds, Nottingham and Stirling.
