Nick
Thanks Nick you have hit the nail on the head. I find it amazing because the speciality is being dichotomised. As I have said over the last 2 or 3 years the biggest problem facing the health service is emergency admissions and this needs to be addressed. The rule in many departments in the UK is stack em up in A & E. It is a disgrace in my opinion.
This is the No 1 priority. To me Trick and Treat is an anathama until the former is sorted out. I'm sorry but in my opinion the speciality has been inadequate in this area.
I see departments where the ambulances are stacked up outside and they can't off load the patients because there are no beds in the hospital. Alongside this we are being urged to reduce our waiting times in minors from 89 minutes to 50 minutes.
I'm not being personal and my views are my own but in my opinion we have lost the plot.
