At the levels normally taken, normal variant is probably commonest. In an
athlete post race, haemolysis or trauma is the most likely explanation (main
others being malignancy; collagen vascular disease; traumatic injury
(including surgery); MI or CVA (especially if therapeutic thrombloysis);
infection; and pregnancy (or recent delivery). And of course, DIC. Think
that's all of them.
