Minutes of 29th November 2002 GridPP Testbed Phone Meeting
==========================================================
Present: Peter Clarke (UCL), Dave Colling (Imperial), Santanu Das
(Cambridge), Owen Maroney (Bristol), David Martin (Glasgow), Andrew McNab
(Manchester), Paul Mealor (UCL), Steve Traylen (RAL),
1. EDG Testbed software release status
--------------------------------------
Steve T. reported that EDG 1.3.4 was released at the start of the week.
Installations good now, with no omissions needing manual fixes. Some
problems with MDS still, but this affects RB not sites. Publishing works
ok, but dies under heavy load. Workaround exists: fill a plain, non-Globus
LDAP server from MDS, and use that to bear the heavy load. 1.3.5 expected
soon to fix this.
2. GridPP Installation Instructions and Support
-----------------------------------------------
Steve has updated the GridPP installation instructions and scripts for
1.3.4. Some changes to come from Owen to make upgrading work with
1.3.x; and from Steve to support GridPP VO.
Andrew had verified installation of 1.3.3 at the start of the week and
commented how very smoothly it goes.
3. Site Status
--------------
RAL: Dev and application testbeds at 1.3.4. Some changes being made to
disk reporting for CMS. CSF. UI at 1.3.4
Imperial: have UI, CE and untested SE at 1.3.4; RB at 1.3.3; also old RB,
CE and UI at 1.2.2
Bristol: Untested installation of UI, CE, SE and WN with 1.3.4
Manchester: Still running at 1.2.2. 1.3.3 installed on a CE but untested.
UCL: CE and SE at 1.3.4, and job submission tested. Not being listed by RB
yet. This has worked with 1.3.x in the past, so Steve is
investigating.
FOR THE MOMENT, SITES WITH 1.3.x CE's SHOULD CONTACT DAVE COLLING TO BE
PUT MANUALLY INTO THE RB's II.
4. AOB
------
There was some discussion about the Edinburgh EDG Tutorials next
week: Steve has set up two UI machines, and contacted Sophie to produce
certificates for tutorial participants. Will use EDG application testbed.
Peter asked about current status and whether it was yet time to invite
more sites. General agreement to invite "friendly testing" sites on
tb-support list to try installing, probably during next week, perhaps
after 1.3.5 is released, and after EDG Tutorials are over.
Santanu asked about automatic PBS configuration of large numbers of worker
nodes: there is an LCFG object to do this which is installed by default,
but it's use is not yet described in the instructions.
