None of the Ezras in the 1881 census were born in Wales (Aaron and Habiba of
Brighton were born in "Bagdad, Turkey" and their children Hannah and Charles
were born in India, whilst little Frederick was born in Brighton). There
are quite a lot of Joels, but very few were born in Wales. There are huge
numbers of Amoses (more than Amies or Amis), well scattered, but none seem
to have been born in Wales. There are no Zephaniahs (and I harbour grave
suspicions of our contemporary Benjamin Obadiah Iqbal Zephaniah!).
I can thoroughly recommend the Mormons' version of the 1881 census on
CD-Rom - £29.95 for 25 CDs, including search software and postage! I was
involved in the planning stages of the disastrous DERA/QinetiQ 1901 online
census project, and counselled against it, but did they listen?
