I suppose I will be accused of going off track again but hey isn't that
diversity....Anthony Eden handed over his grand estate, Windlestone Hall, to
what was know then as Durham County Council in the UK. It is being used as
a secluded special school in which its education system has de educated and
de mobilised hundreds of disabled children over the years. I was a pupil
within this barbaric army like system, in the early seventies, from the
impressionable age of nine right through to the age of sixteen. The school is
still in operation today. Windlestone Hall's grand decorative ceilings and
walls, used to get re-painted every four years, paid for by the County
Council. Shame the money didn't get spent on educating the pupils instead.
This leads me to wonder whether there has been any campaigns in the UK to
close down special schools like Windlestone Hall, before it's too late for
others.
