Umm, maybe I am too unscientific, but it seems to me that the DC
element set has got buried at the DCMI homepage again. We do not have
an easily accessible simple list of the 15 elements. We instead have
these carefully crafted (and metadata rich!) pages with all kinds of
information about supersedes and versions. Even the follow "this
version" link, as instructed, does not take you very directly into
the Usage Guide which seems to me to be the place where the simplest
and most up to date element list is.
A few years ago when the site was redesigned, Stu asked for input on
what the site should be like, and an easy, always visible link from
http://dublincore.org/ to the element set was suggested by a number
of people. The current elements link we have now
http://dublincore.org/usage/terms/dc/current-elements/ doesn't do it
-- it takes too much sleuthing around the site to find the basic
elements.
Also, should one want to encode DC in html with link references, what
do you use for a URL for a simple definition of an element? As far as
I know, the Nordic Template is still linking to the 1998 element set,
DC 1.0
Are we making things too hard for ourselves?
IMHO, anyways.
