dear persons, I think we need to decide how much effort and resource
we are going to put into preparing for this.. we appear to be the only
part of the bcs in britain with an interest .. and we in this context
might mean me ..

my earlier post on the information literacy meeting, and then the
following meeting on metadata are intended to be part of preparation
for input and the key arguement is the international public good
aspect of the interoperability of metadata..

I think my line at the moment is that given we have consultative
status with UNESCO on the basis of having attended the Paris meeting,
is that we should contribute to the prepcom and then be prepared to
attended the 2003 summit as part of the participation of civil
society, we should attempt to keep the uk unesco commission involved,
and through the idf we should collaborate with other interested
parties in britain

attending these two meetings and making contributions, is likely to
take up most of our allocation for the next two years from the bcs,
and on current basis I'll be doing most of the work, so I think
persons should have the opportunity to say no, suggest a different
approach, or agree to take a lead

what follows might be useful:

> sustainable economic growth, strengthening the mobilisation of resources and
> of all social sectors in order to create an institutional infrastructure for
> lifelong learning, promoting the development and use of statistical
> indicators.
