The press and public are not as keen to believe the government as has been
suggested. There were papers at the weekend who ran articles saying that
the government was responsible for the result of the ballot. Even the
increasingly batty Alan Maynard was wary of a confrontation with the BMA,
because the BMA get the public on their side. So it is important not to
fall into the trap of believing the hype more than the public and giving in
before trying.
