Possibly. However there is a difference now. Reforming
Emergency Care states that patients attending
Emergency Departments will be streamed. Two of those
streams are Self Care and Primary Care. Which means it
is now official government policy that some patients
attending our departments won't see a doctor at all
(self care) or will be directed to another service
(primary care) without being seen by a doctor. Now I
will have no hesitation in pointing out to managers or
patients that complain about this that it is
government policy and we have to implement it in order
to improve the service for those who need it!
Cheers Fred.
