I've always found it so much easier to hit a large muscle on a fitting
person than a small nasal opening
Then again I may be biased to i-m stuff as the joint author of the
original midazolam versus diazepam article in Emergency Medicine in 1992
works with me
And now someone is going to ask for the reference and Its at work so
you'll have to wait for tomorrow!)

I would've thought that the intranasal route would have much quicker
absorption than the intramuscular route. We certainly see this effect
with intranasal diamorphine. I'm not convinced the atomiser is strictly
necessary however, although I suspect it may well lead to higher mucosal
uptake by reducing the amount of fluid going down the back of the kid's
throat (where it can be spat out or swallowed, neither of which are good
for absorption)!
