There are publications available including guidelines for the treatment of
falls which has many suggestions of what scales are available and evidence
based. They are available on the CSP website or from the CSP. One is called
the "Fall Audit Pack-guidelines for the collaborative, rehabilitative
management of elderly people who have fallen" and the other is
"Effectiveness of Falls prevention and rehabilitation stategies in older
people:implications for physiotherapy" by Lamb SE.

Subject: Tinetti scale
I am planning to use the Tinetti gait and balance scale. (POMA). I
have come across several version during my research into it - a scale with a
score of 40, and a scale with a score of 28. The shorter version seems more
widely used, but I have still found inconsistencies with it, with subtle
variations, especially within the scoring of the balance subsection.
What versions does anyone use - is there one version out there that
is the 'definitive version? What do people use to screen for fallers!
