The Department of Sociology and Social Policy seek to appoint
two researchers to join two European Union-funded research
groups, commencing studies in November/December 2002.
International Comparative Project on Private Pensions
and Social Inclusion
Ref: 02D0133
A Research Fellow is required to join a group of researchers
from six European countries who are commencing a study of
social inclusion and the private pensions sector.
Funding is available for this post from November 2002 to
March 2005. Salary will be on Research Grade IA, spinal point
06-11 (£19,681 to £24,435 per annum), depending upon
qualifications and experience.
International Comparative Project on the Changing
Relationship of Formal and Informal work in Europe Ref:
02D0134
A Research Fellow is required to join a group of researchers
from six European countries, who are commencing a study of
the changing relationship of formal and informal work and their
impact on social integration
Funding is available for this post from November 2002 to
September 2005. Salary will be on Research Grade IA, spinal
point 06-09 (£19,681 to £22,522 per annum).
For both these positions you will be expected take day-to-day
responsibility for and undertake all research aspects of the
British contribution to the research project. The project will
involve qualitative interviews as well as some quantitative
analyses; a researcher with a post-graduate qualification and
experience in both areas is therefore required. A PhD in the
social sciences and knowledge of the subject area is desirable.
Outstanding candidates without a PhD are also encouraged to
