Hi, folks. Here at the University of Guelph, we've been asked to send out
messages to colleagues in other places who might have students wanting to
pursue an M.A. or a Ph.D. The idea is to bring in students from a wide
range of
geographical areas. We are two departments joined into one: English and
Drama have become the School of Literatures and Performance Studies in
English -- known as SLAPSIE. The School's strength is in post-colonial
studies but also has strength in Early Modern Studies and wants more
students specializing in that area. We have here Daniel Fischlin, who is
supervising a major research project on Shakespearean Adaptations; Susan
Brown, who is involved in the Orlando Project (the history of women's
writing in the British Isles); Judith Thompson, an award-winning
playwright who teaches script writing, etc. We also have a joint Ph.D
program with Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. You may
check the website for
further information: www.uoguelph.ca. If you think you might have some
interested students, let me know, and I'll have the secretary send you
some brochures. I'll add that the grad. students are treated very well
here. Marianne Micros
