If you don't have NVIVO 2, it is easiest if you first use WinZip to zip up
your project and then burn the zipped version on the CD. If you do not have
WinZip, you can burn the project onto the CD but then when you copy it back
to your hard drive, it will be read-only. So you will need to go into
Windows Explorer and right click on the project folder and select Properties
and uncheck the read-only box and click Apply. If you have Windows 2000 or
above, you will get a message asking if you want all the sub-folders and
files not read only, click Yes. Now you will be able to open your project.
If you have less than Windows 2000 (e.g Windows 98) you will have to repeat
the same procedure with every folder and file in your project.
One big advantage of NVIVO 2 is that it now has back-up and restore options
in the menu. And if you burn a back-up version on a CD, the project does
not become read-only so you do not have this problem when you restore.
And I've just realised that you posted this on qual-software rather than
qsr-forum so apologies to non NVIVO users.
