I have had a meeting today with Mike Kirkup from the Tyneside
Cinema,Newcastle, to discuss a range of ideas for links with schools and
colleges.

These included:

1: restarting the teacher's meetings - but this time making more of an
event of it,  sessions on concepts, preview of a film etc.

2: Visits to the cinema and talks - tied to media industries

3: Screenings of films, with accompanying notes - tied to upcoming
releases and / or to case studies  you are studying.

4: Developing a newsletter  and / or emails to teachers / lecturers in the
region.

5: INSET for teachers

6: Using the new digital lounge  for screenings, perhaps with talks from
film  /media personnel

7: Competition / showcasing of student's work - see it on the big screen.

The Tyneside Cinema is revamping, redecorating and expanding its
activities and programme and are eager to collaborate ( and the Coffee
Rooms do fab cake too !). So  what do you want them to do for you ?

Some ideas ???? what do other regional film theatres do ??
