medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear colleagues
I'm just reading a medieval canonization process in which one of the
witnesses says (I quote roughly) "that he had read that the blessed
Augustine, in praising the lives of the saints, noted that there come
together in them purity of the flesh, repentance for sins, humility of
mind, fervour of charity, the practice of good works, patience in
adversity, the subjugation of all desires of the flesh and the fixing of
the mind on Christ." Does anyone know where this is found in Augustine?
thanks in anticipation
