I would like to add that a proper understanding of copyright forms an
important part of what I need to know as a media student, would that this
were a part of other peoples academic disciplines too as it is very relevant
to academic discourse.
In reply again to Philip Scullion, I believe that most Universities and
Colleges do have specific rules regarding email use to protect themselves.

many students will have downloaded potentially illegal material onto there
system (MP3's for instance which the recording industry do have the
resources to pursue legally) and have to carry out audits from time to time.
I am sure a google serch would bring up many examples of codes of practice.
There are also such things as EULAS and agreements where few people bother
to read the small print.
It is like violating red lights and speeding really. Lots of people do it,
many justify it, others simply do not care, but every so often someone is
caught and has to pay the penalty.
