Call for papers
The Modern Period Room- the construction of the exhibited interior 1870-1950

The theme of the 5th Dorich House conference will be "The Modern Period
Room- the construction of the exhibited interior 1870-1950".
Papers are invited on the following topics:
· Notions of authenticity
· The positioning of the 'modern' within the 'postmodernism'
· Differing interpretations of modernity
· The exhibited space
· Curatorial practice and issues of conservation
· Historical representation
Interior spaces to be discussed could range from National Trust Rooms, and
others in private and public museums for example Dorich House, Willow Road,
Kettles Yard. The subject will be of interest to historians of the interior
and of design and material culture as well as museum curators.
Abstracts of 400 words outlining proposed papers of 30 minutes are invited
