Rob, i think some brigades have a fair chunk of their retained as FBU
members, so these guys will wither be out or sticking firmly to their home
patch, the so -called Retained Firefighters Union only has a couple of
thousand members and isn't recognised by the employers and negotiaton
bodies.
as for the 'London Village' comment - i out you as a 'Mark and Lard'

from an A+E practice point of view the biggest issue is probably going to
surround the speed of extrication and whether there will be an increase in
demand for teams to go to scenes of inicidents ( and more to the point who
will be paying for these teams if it is not to denigrate the rest of the
service)
interestingly i think some of the more sparsely populated counties will be
best covered - Lincolnshire especially because of the density of existing
MoD fire fighting resources ( plenty of RAF FFs even if they are move around
there will still be a fair chunk 'at home' unlrss flying is curtailed )
