Prime Minister's Statement to Parliament on Bali Attack

Description: This site provides access to a transcript of a speech made by British Prime Minister Tony Blair to the House of Commons on October 15th 2002. It contains his response to the terrorist attacks in Bali and pledges Britain's support to extend the 'war against terrorism' to hunt down the Al- Qaeda network. Is Southeast Asia the Second Front?

Description: This site has been established by the European Commission to act as a gateway to useful information for businesses and the general public about living and working in the different nations of the European Union. It is subdivided into citizen and enterprise sections. The citizen section includes links to full text factsheets about relocating to different EU nations and the employment, legal and political rights of all citizens within the EU. It also contains country specific fact files that provide access to essential information on employment rules, residency rights, access to social services and summaries of the education and taxation systems within individual EU nations.

Propaganda War and the War Against Terrorism
Description: This site provides access to a collection of materials relating to the use of propaganda in the war against terrorism waged against Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban government of Afghanistan in retaliation for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It is maintained by Philip M. Taylor, Professor of International Communications at the University of Leeds. It includes access to some of his presentations and papers on the use of propaganda by allied forces. The site also includes numerous links to reports and web sites providing analysis of media coverage of the 'war against terrorism

A Framework for Pedagogical Evaluation of Virtual Learning Environments

Description: This report, by Sandy Britain and Oleg Liber of the University of Wales, Bangor, reviews the various commercial VLE packages on the market (2002). They write "The problems with which this report is concerned are twofold. The first is how to evaluate the properties, capabilities and orientation of different systems from an educational perspective. The second is how to determine whether the new technology can be embedded into the teaching and learning context of a given institution." They examine two different models - one from education, the other from systems modelling. The conclusions of this report are designed to help educators choose the right software system for their teaching.

Public Private Partnership Knowledge Centre
Description: The Public Private Partnership Knowledge Centre is part of the Dutch Ministry of Finance. It was formed in 1999 to promote public-private partnership projects (PPP) in the Netherlands. The site is available in Dutch or English. It provides details of Dutch government policy towards PPPs,information on ongoing projects and access to full text reports detailing the progress of the programme. These cover a range of services including education, transport and health.
