Adam & Alex
I have read the recent correspondence with interest but I'm concerned that
a valuable mailbase will be brought into serious disrepute unless we make
an even greater effort to respect each other's different value positions.
There are some really important debates to be had about equity issues and
many different conclusions will be reached about the best courses of action
to promote. It seems to me that it matters less that we should strive for
some artificial concensus than that we should endeavour to at least
understand the nature of different arguments. If we are not careful to be
more respectful then valued colleagues who we should be engaging in
constructive discussion will vote with their keyboards and emigrate elsewhere.
